Flower Delivery to Rustington with Clare Florist
The sea, flowers, candlelight dinners in a cosy cottage—these are all essential elements to make any holiday romantic, and the perfect location to experience all of these is in the beautiful village of Rustington. It is one of the most well-known seaside resorts in West Sussex, with a charming, sleepy vibe, yet with a vibrant and thriving community. Rent a lovely cottage by the sea and plan a romantic getaway to this historically and culturally rich travel destination.
A Proud History
Rustington has been occupied since the Bronze Age. In the Domesday Book, it is mentioned as a part of land given to Roger de Montgomery, who became Lord of the Manor. Since then, it was a small agricultural community until machinery took over in the 19th century. Newly built railways and its close proximity to the sea attracted more visitors and settlers to the area. In order to meet the increasing demand for housing, a brickfield was constructed in 1867. At the same time, nurseries where glasshouse crops were grown replaced farmlands. These businesses provided more work opportunities in the locality.
Rustington also played a part in international history. In World War I, an American aerodome was built in the village. In World War II, Canadian and American troops were billeted there.
Evidence of the old days can still be seen in the remaining local historical structures and the displays at their museum. Going around the village you will see that Rustington is evidently proud of its history.
What to See and Do
Take a romantic stroll around the 'olde world' village
Start your day by discovering the picturesque locations. Visit the 18th century flint cottages at The Street and surrounding roads. The conservation area in the village contains the largest number of pre-1850 listed buildings. Many famous writers, musicians, artists and celebrities, including J.M. Barrie (author of Peter Pan), lived in Rustington, so you can also check out the houses where they stayed. You can also enjoy taking couple selfies with beautiful Rustington flower displays in the background because there are many stunning blossom-filled spots around. This is because the village participates in the annual South & South East in Bloom event, which is part of Britain in Bloom, the nationwide community gardening campaign.
Have a lovely picnic on the beach
One of the most alluring factors of Rustington is its sea views and pebble covered beaches that stretch for miles. After going back in history, it's time to relax outdoors. Pack some sandwiches and iced tea, find a comfy spot on the shoreline, and enjoy each other's company while getting some much needed vitamin sea. End your day out by watching the romantic colours of the sky change as dusk settles in.
Prepare a cosy dinner for two in a beautiful cottage rental.
There are many self-catering holiday rentals in Rustington that can give you the privacy and intimacy you need. It will be the perfect place to enjoy 'us time' and to rest after sightseeing. Cap your day off by dazzling your loved one with your culinary skills. Buy a fine bottle of wine, set a candlelit table out in the garden or beside the window so you can enjoy the view, and prepare to impress.
To make your holiday even more romantic, surprise your sweetheart with a bouquet of beautiful blooms waiting in your rental cottage. You can order from our online florist shop and we will do everything to make sure you can send flowers to Rustington just in time for your sweet surprise.
