HISTORY
According to the Suffolk County Sites and Monuments Record, there are more than 20 sites of archaeological interest from all periods in Palgrave. Among these include items from the Neolithic, Iron Age and Roman period. Three flint axes were found from the Neolithic period while some pottery was uncovered from the Iron Age. Evidence of Roman occupation were revealed through remains such as potsherds, bone and some coins.
Palgrave is only mentioned once in the Domesday survey of 1086. At the time of the survey, it was held by St Edmund's with two churches and 30 acres of land.

Palgrave has a conservation area and it's centred on the village Green. Most of the 42 listings in the parish are located within the conservation area. Among the listed structures include:
Church of St Peter – a Grade I listed structure featuring flint rubble walls and a plain tile roof. It is mostly 15th century and done in Perpendicular style. The church is an exception to the pattern of domestic buildings in the village.
Former Gild-Hall – located opposite the church. It is a Grade II listed structure located south of the main road and is now called Brackendale.
K6 Telephone Box – found outside Brackendale. It is another Grade II listed structure.
Other listed properties include the chest tomb and headstone from around 1790.
