That said, the path is called the West Somerset Coast Path and here are the details:
This begins from the hamlet of Steart to Minehead, a coastal resort. This path then passes through the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It also links the River Parrett Trail to the South West Coast Path National Trail. In addition, it joins the Coleridge Way and Quantock Greenway which is just south of the A39 near East Quantoxhead.
There is a path from Steart to Stolford and from Stolford to Lilstock. Here's more information:
Steart to Stolford – as you start from the car park near Dowell's Farm you'll get to the remains of a quadrant hut lie on the beach. The hut was used to determine the accuracy of bomb strikes when the area was used as a range. There's also a World War II barrage balloon hanger located on the Pawlett Hams.
As you continue along this path, you cross Wall Common and then Catsford Common which is grazed by sheep. You then get into the hamlet of Stolford where you'll find a submerged fossilised forest and rocky outcrops.
You'll also see two islands of Steep Holm and Flat Holm when you look north-east up the Bristol Channel. You can visit Steep Holm (rich in military history with evidence of Roman and Viking occupation) by charter launch from Weston-super-Mare or by steam vessels sailing from Minehead during the summer.
Stolford to Lilstock – continuing from Hinkley Point Power Station, you'll pass through a gate within a gate. The area will now be dominated by small woodlands and you'll notice signs indicating it's a licensed nuclear power generating site. As you continue on, you'll come to a sea defence wall where you can look over and see flat pavements and blocks of limestone during low tide.
That shore has evidence of giant marine reptiles. It's quite a popular shoreline as well as this is where fisherman catch cod, bass and flounder. When you see a solid concrete footway, you've come to the end of Hinkley Point site. You can pass through the grass area and continue on for three-quarters of a mile where you'll see a sign board.
You can follow the path to Lilstock when you reach an ammonite post. At Lilstock, you can enjoy the beach. You can turn back after this but if you want to continue on, the path leads to Klive.
