The Domesday Book of 1086 has a record for the manor in Stawley. It was held by Osward and Ailward. Later on, the Powlett family from Hinton St George owned the manor.

Kittisford Barton – this is the surviving manor house of the historic Kittisford manor in Wellington, Somerset. The manor is located on the River Tone south of the village of Bathealton.
