Flower Delivery to Cutcombe with Clare Florist

Cutcombe is a small village located in the south western portion of England, in the country of Somerset. It’s close to Minehead and Dulverton. It’s also considered a civil parish that includes the village of Whedon Cross. The village is considered as being located within Exmoor National Park, and is 299 metres above sea level. There are about 361 people living in the village, as of 2011.

The word Cutcombe is derived from Old English, and means Cuda’s Valley. It was granted to William de Mohun of Dunster after the Norman Conquest. Cutcombe was one of the Hundred of Carhampton in the 17th century, a secure meeting spot for the royal court.

The parish council governs over all local issues. They’re responsible for keeping the village looking good, from drainage to footpaths, and street cleaning. The district council tackles the local village planning, and oversees the planning of markets and fairs, leisure services, and parks and recreation.

Exmoor National Park is located in West Somerset and is featured by hilly open moorlands. Its name is derived from the River Exe, which runs through the centre of the park. The park is located on the area that used to be the royal hunting forest. The Park encompasses over 700 square kilometres of land.

The Church of St. John is located in Cutcombe, and has dark grey stonework with a tall rectangular tower. The tower was built in the 13th century, at the time of the Norman Conquest. It’s currently a listed building on the heritage site. There is an old graveyard surrounded by green grass in the yard.

In 1086, the Domesday book lists Cutcombe as having forty-five households. This church also had a mention the 1086 Domesday Book. During this time, the local manor was owned by the Mohun family. They were also responsible for building Dunster Castle. The church and land was owned by the Demesne family, and in the early 12th century it passed hands to the Bruton Priory.

Cutcombe Market is a popular spot where livestock is traded. There are plans to revitalize this area and build a Park Interpretation Centre, and create more market space for farmers to sell their produce.

Cutcombe hosts a once a year event for children and adults called the Cutcombe Fete, with a flower and dog show. There are many interactive exhibits, competitions, and farm animals on display. Flowers and produce are available for sale, and there are also cooking demonstrations.
