Flower Delivery to Yelvertoft with Clare Florist
Welcome to the village of Yelvertoft. Situated in the county of Northamptonshire, England. One of the the most picturesque and historical towns in all of the country. The only thing more charming than all the historical sites of interest here are all the townspeople and their welcoming spirit...
Yelvertoft has kept a more rural and independent character compared to some of the other villages in the nearby regions, such as the village of Crick. Mainly because there have been no major transport routes passing through here...
The name of the village is a combination of the word 'Yelver', itself an evolution from the Saxon name 'Ceolfrith' then into 'Gelver', and then into 'Yelver'; and the '-toft' suffix which comes from the word for 'small settlement' in Danish.
The main place to shop in Yelvertoft is called High Street. It is around three quarters of a mile long. Starting at the Parish Church of All Saints and ending all the way over at the Village Hall. An interesting fact is that High street itself follows the ancient course of the Salters Way Portway. Open on any day of the week you will be sure to find something to meet your needs in this enchanted place.
All Saints Church usually organises an annual Flower Festival. This event is held over the final weekend of August. It features a series of stunning flower arrangements in the church, also a number of gardens open to the public, and a local arts and crafts exhibition. One of the most breathtaking events of Yelvertoft...
There are some really historically significant sites in Yelvertoft. Like an incredibly old school building constructed way back in 1792, but this now serves as The Reading Room, a glorious monument dedicated to the 13th century Rector of the All Saints Church, John Drycson, and a huge newly renovated town pump dating from 1900.
At the last census there was a population count of 851 people spread amongst 356 houses.
The village is actually situated pretty well, being near the main road systems of the M1, M6 and M45. It’s also nearby the A14 east-west link. The towns of Rugby, Daventry and Northampton, are all nearby and so are the major cities of Leicester, Birmingham and Coventry, all amazing places to visit in their own right.
Yelvertoft is quite a spiritually diverse village with three different denomination churches (Roman Catholic, Anglican and Congregational). There are a few general stores, a primary school, a pre-school, a local history group, a sunday school, a youth drop-in, a post-office and, a butcher's shop, a public house and many successful small businesses. There are also recreational facilities at the village hall, sports field and Pocket Park.
There are many local groups and organisations like the Mothers Union, the Football and Cricket clubs, and the School Association. The School Association is usually in charge of organising all of the community events in Yelvertoft. All members of the Parish Council go out of their way to assist in meeting the needs of the community.
