HISTORY

The village of Hilborough is listed in the Domesday Book where it is recorded as “Hildeburhwella.” William de Warenne was the main landholder and the area had three mills and five beehives.

Hugh van Cutsem bought the Hilborough Estate in the 1990s where he built a neo-Palladian mansion which was designed by Francis Johnson. The estate became one of the leading wild bird shoots in the country where it went on to win awards for works in conservation.
