Dersingham is a small village located in the county of Norfolk, on the eastern side of England. It’s close to the coastline, but relies on its springs to bring in fresh water. It’s twelve kilometres away from King’s Lynn, and seventy from Norwich. This village has a small population of 4640 residents, as of the 2010 Census. Dersingham is also considered a parish, and it is located within the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk districts.
Dersingham is noted for being one of the largest villages in King’s Lynn and West Norfolk. Dersingham is located on over 1500 hectares of land. The highest hill is fifty metres above sea level.
This region is noted for Sandringham House, which is a popular vacation home for Queen Elizabeth. Many other royals also enjoyed vacationing here. This estate is located to the south of the village, in the parish of Sandringham. On February 6, 2012, Dersingham had a royal visitor. Queen Elizabeth visited Dersingham Infant School as part of her Diamond Jubilee accession day festivities.
St. Nicholas Church is located in the village. This old church is made from brown brick, and has a small rectangular tower on one end. It’s built of local carrstone. A graveyard is located around two sides of its exterior. The Summer Flower Festival will be held at the Church in July. There will be many activities, arts and crafts displays, and craft stalls. In early December they hold the annual Christmas Tree Festival. The church is a popular venue for weddings, and they hold day and nighttime services.

Arthur Bryant was a local historian and a columnist for the Illustrated London News who lived in the village. Thomas Kerrich was the village’s artist and antiquarian from 1748 to 1828.

This land sits on the Dersingham Formation, which is composed of greensand, a type of sandstone from the lower Cretaceous Period. The mire is waterlogged for a greater part of the year. A variety of birds make this area their home, including crossbills, redpolls, tree pipits, nightjars, and long-eared owls. A small fenced gate offers entrance to the Nature Reserve.
