An expansion of the structure was done in the 19th century and the estate was used to hold prisoners during the war.

St John the Evangelist

This is one of the six churches of “Sheepy Benefice” in the heart of Leicestershire. Construction was completed in 1861, on the site of an older structure and designed by one of the members of the Wollaston family, Rev H J Wollaston. The walls in the interior are from the original internal walls of the old church while other parts of the structure are made from Sydnope stones and the wooden parts are made of oak.
