Flower Delivery to Leicester Square with Clare Florist

Whether you want to see a West End show or enjoy the latest offer at the cinema, Leicester Square is one of the top places in London for entertainment. Apart from films and theatre, the square is also home to many restaurants where you can have a lovely romantic dinner complete with the giving of Leicester Square flowers. Nightlife is lively as well in the public square with plenty bars to choose from.

The Cinema

The Odeon Leicester Square hosts many European and world film premieres. It’s not an unusual sight to see lots of people lined up wanting to catch a glimpse of international celebrities.

Another cinema, the Odeon West End, was opposite the Odeon Leicester Square. It was bought in 2012 by the Radisson Edwardian hotel group. The cinema closed in 2015 with the group planning to redevelop it as a luxury hotel that will include a replacement cinema in the basement.

On the north side of the Square is Empire, another cinema that is operated by Cineworld. It was once a variety theatre when it opened in 1884 but was rebuilt for films in the 1920s.

The Theatre

“Theatreland” is used to describe the forty or so venues located in or near London’s West End. Seeing a world-class theatre production is clearly a treat but if tickets cost too much, simply admiring the architecture – many of late Victorian or Edwardian construction – can be a delightful activity.

Tickets to West End shows can be purchased from TKTS, which has a booth in the Square. The tickets are also sold at a significant discount.

The Garden

Albert Grant, a Member of Parliament, purchased the park in 1874 and donated it to the Metropolitan Board of Works. It is now in the City of Westminster’s ownership.

Architect James Knowles redesigned the park after it was purchased. Many statues of popular figures are fond in the park, including the statue of William Shakespeare at the centre.

A bust of famous residents used to adorn the four corner gates: Sir Isaac Newton (scientist), Sir Joshua Reynolds (the Royal Academy’s first president), John Hunter (surgery pioneer), and William Hogarth (painter).

Only Shakespeare’s statue remains after the park was refurbished, with a bronze statue of film star Charlie Chaplin being the latest addition.

You can surprise a date with flowers in Leicester Square before going to see a film or grab a bite to eat.

Other Entertainment

Gambling is another activity on offer in the Square. Those who want to try their luck can head to Empire Casino or the 93,000 square feet Hippodrome Casino.

The Square also has family-friendly attractions, including M&M’s World London, Ripley’s Believe it or Not! London, and the world’s largest Lego store.
