Flower Delivery to Kearsley with Clare Florist

Located in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Kearsley lies about eight miles north-west of Manchester, close to five miles south-west of Bury and nearly four miles south of Boston. The town is bounded by Walkden on the west, Whitefield on the east, Farnworth on the north and Clifton on the south.
History

Kearsley used to be part of the historic county boundaries of Lancashire. In 1752, the town became industrialized when James Brindley, an engineer who became one of the most notable in the 18th century, found a solution to the drainage problems at Wet Earth Colliery located on the borders of Kearsley and Clifton.

A mill was built around 1780 at the point where the River Croal met with the River Irwell. When the Industrial Revolution swept in, the boundaries of Kearsley featured a paper mill, cotton mills, chemical works, an iron foundry, a quarry and 15 coal mines.

The mid-19th century saw Kearsley become a busy coal mining area. This is evidenced by a number of street names alluding to such like Moss Colliery Road.
Today, little industry remains in Kearsley. The one mill that remained was transformed into a multi-occupancy building that houses retail and light engineering.
