Flower Delivery to East Renfrewshire by Clare Florist
East Renfrewshire is one of the 32 council areas of Scotland surrounding North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire, Renfrewshire, South Lanarkshire as well as the vibrant Glasgow city. The place dates back to the pre-roman times, at a time its area was rich in farming activities. Until 1975 it was part of the county of Renfrewshire for local government reasons as well as with the modern council areas of Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. While it is no longer a local authority area, Renfrewshire is still the registration county as well as lieutenancy region of East Renfrewshire.
Taking a trip back to East Renfrewshire's past reveals names like the Maxwells who owned many farmlands and buildings of the town. In the 15th century they began building the magnificent Cathcart Castle, which was completed in 1450 but ruined later in 1980. Afterward John Maxwell one of the maxwell's lost ownership of the lands after he was found guilty of assisting covenanting causes. In 1793, the building of Clarkston, one of the busiest districts began. With the introduction of railways in 1866, the place expanded rapidly. East Renfrewshire gained prominence quickly in the 20th century as development increased in the area, within that time, many schools and other establishments sprang up. In no time the place became a tourist destination with its extensive history and interesting attractions, some of which include:
Barrhead Heritage Trail - The Barrhead Heritage Trail which features three special designed trails for sightseeing which affords visitors various sites of historical importance around the town. Some of the sites on the trail include 18th century inns, centuries old churches, the railway station and Arthurlie FC's football ground. The most ancient site on the trail is the 9th century Arthurlie Cross and other well known sites such as the former home of Glasgow entrepreneur Kate Cranston and Shanks of Barrhead.
Greenbank House And Garden - Greenbank House and Garden is an 18th century house and garden owned and operated by the National Trust for Scotland and open to the public. The house was built in 1763 by a Glasgow merchant called Robert Allason. Allason's business later went down during the American Independence war and he lost ownership of the house. Over the next two centuries the house was owned by many people until in 1962, it was bought by William Blyth. Blyth transformed the grounds from the original fruit and vegetable growing to the ornamental gardens that can be seen today. One of the great attractions is the Greenbank Garden layout. The garden is divided into several areas, each area different from the next due to the flower bed arrangement. The garden has up to 3000 different species of flower, which bloom at different times of the year due to changing seasons. So not all flowers are on show at any time.
