Flower Delivery to Kingsteignton, South Devon

K'Town or Kingsteignton as colloquially called is a town and civil parish in South Devon, England. For a long time, it was known as the largest village in England until it changed its status into a town when it was at risk of being incorporated with nearby Newton Abbot.

History of Kingsteignton

Before the change of status took effect in 1 January 2009, Kingsteignton was a key settlement during the Saxon times in the 8th century, when it was founded by the kings of Wessex. In 1001, it was a magnet for Danish raiders, but recovered during medieval prosperity in the 15th century. It was the same time that St Micheals parish church was rebuilt, an iconic landmark that still stands to this day.

One of the most popular legends in town is the rise of the annual Ram Roasting fair. Legend has it that water was so scarce that there wasn't even enough to baptise a child. When a ram was sacrificed to appease the gods of the local spring, water sprang forth, and the annual fair was born.

The Fountain was named as such because it was originally a spring that fed water to troughs for dogs, cattle and horses. Because it was found in the middle of the junction of the main road from Newton Abbot to Exeter and Fore Street, it was also acknowledged as the centre of the town. Today, only the troughs remained and were moved to a site different from where it was first unveiled by the Lord Clifford. Surrounded by an abundance of Kingsteignton flowers, it has become quite an attraction.
