Flower Delivery to Penrose, Cornwall
The world knows that the Eden Project is not the only thing that makes Cornwall an interesting place to visit. But if you take the time to really explore this ceremonial county in the UK, you will discover other hidden treasures, one of which is Penrose.
How to get to Penrose
There are plenty of ways to get to Penrose. One of your options is through the Penzance train station which is 10 miles from Porthleven. If you want to travel by road, the estate is 2 miles S-W of Helston on the B3304. When you reach the signpost, just turn left to Loe Bar and left into the car park. When taking a coach, take the First 2/2A or 7/8 Penzance-Falmouth from the Penzance train station.
If you are coming from Porthleven, you can cycle through the coast road that runs along the Penrose Hill, and then take the cycling paths leading to the parkland of Penrose Estate.
Penrose is a wooded country that surrounds the largest natural lake in Cornwall. It is also home to the sprawling and beautiful Penrose Estate. With history and nature combined, this is one of those places when old buildings are surrounded by vast fields of green and vibrant flowers in Penrose.
Penrose Estate
This estate includes Loe Bar and Loe Pool, which is Cornwall's largest natural freshwater lake. interestingly enough, only a broad shingle bar separates the lake from the heavy Atlantic seas. Penrose Estate has many paths that offer visitors plenty of ways to explore the entire area.
The best time to visit the estate is during spring when the parkland and woodland come to life with colorful Penrose flowers. Because of the vast area to explore and the need to preserve the entire place, guidelines are provided to all visitors. These include using stout footwear as many paths tend to be muddy, and using the bridleways with caution. Swimming in the Loe Pool is also prohibited.
St Winwaloe
This cornish church is the only one of its kind that is sited on a beach. It is the perfect example of a 15th to early 16th-century three hall church that didn't go through a cruciform stage similar to most Cornish churches. At least there was no evidence of this being done. The church has several historic features, including a font with a 15th century replacement granite octagonal bowl. But its oldest feature is the tower that dates back to pre-1400.
Penrose Wildlife
With a mix of farmland and woodland, expect Penrose to hide some really interesting species. The Gunwalloe valley reedbed alone is home to a variety of birdlife. The rest of Penrose provides shelter to a diverse wildlife, from bats to badgers. In the spring, when flowers in Penrose bloom, butterflies and dragonflies also arrive in swarms, spending much of their time in tributaries that feed into the Loe Pool. During the fall and winter, migrating birds make a home of the pool. This is the perfect time for anyone to see tufted ducks, grebes and other species.
