The secret to the growth of any relationship is nurture. Much like watering a plant or tending to a garden, a relationship needs some TLC for it to work. 1. Go out for a romantic meal
If you've been in a relationship for a while, you may have fallen out of the habit of going on dates with your significant other. An anniversary is a great excuse to treat your loved one to a romantic meal. If you're already in the habit of dining out a lot with your girlfriend, why not surprise her by inviting her somewhere a bit fancier than normal?
2. Write her a poem
I once wrote a poem for a waitress I was infatuated with. Her response? "No-one's ever done this for me before."
You'd be surprised how far a little gesture like this can go. It shows genuine thought, creativity and sincerity, all qualities your other half is sure to find attractive!
3. Serenade her
If you're a musical type, why not grab hold of an acoustic guitar and learn a romantic ballad to serenade your other half with? For bonus points, be sure to stand outside her window. This is especially powerful if she has an upper floor balcony.

4. Book a last minute weekend away
For a truly overwhelming romantic surprise, why not book a weekend away somewhere nice for an anniversary weekend? You could head to a rural bed and breakfast in the countryside or even find a bargain last minute flight abroad for a city break!
5. Send her flowers
However you decide to celebrate your anniversary, there's one thing you can't go wrong with - a bouquet of Anniversary Flowers. Red Roses are a popular choice, although the best thing to do would be to try to work out what your girlfriend's favourite type of flower is, and then gift her with a bouquet of those!
